King George V, Longview Drive Work

Work has now began at King George V (KGV)

Donna and Michael have now started work at KGV by digging out 6 beds. They are now chitting the potatoes, onions and started the seeds off for tomatoes and cucumber.

Raspberry and BlackBerry canes will be planted out along with some rhubarb.

Poly Tunnel Repair

Incredible Edible Knowsley volunteers hard at work repairing one of the poly tunnels on site.

Work has began in repairing the smaller poly tunnel at Court Hey thanks to all of our wonderful volunteers.

We plan to now start some of our seedling off in February and we are preparing the soil ready for our veg. The souls have been ph tested etc. with the support of Mysercough college who provide horticulture courses on site.

We will repair the large poly tunnel come March

Well we now have our banner up, letting everyone know where we are.

Work will begin in the repair of the poly tunnels in January along with the building of raised beds. Anyone looking to get involved or wanting to just find out more about what we will be doing, then please get in touch.

Please can you contact the police if you are in the park and see people climbing over. We have still experienced some young people coming over and we are worried that more damage will happen once the poly tunnels have been repaired.

Incredible Edible Knowsley will be teaming up with Knowsley Housing Trust, Groundwork and Alchemist Kitchen at King George V, Longview drive in a project that will offer the community benefits such as

  • Growing food with the community for the community – all the food is free of course
  • Accredited courses
  • Cooking

Bad News – Vandals

On Sunday 20th October some vandals got on site and set fire to an area causing considerable damages. They also slashed poly tunnels, damaged water butts and trashed the site.
